Travel: Grove, OK --> Owensville, MO (320 mi)

Moved to Lost Valley Lake Resort.  We really thought we were lost as the roads kept getting smaller and smaller....  The park was amazing.  Pools, spas, movie theater.... quite a place.  Definitely on our "go back to" list.

Community Theater

Traveled a piece of historic Rt 66 to the town of Miami, OK (My-am-ah) to see Godspell at the local Community Theater.  It was a modernized version of the play with cell phones and modern game shows woven into the parables.

Minor Milepost

Phiona's odometer turned 250K right as we stopped at a traffic light near Grove, OK.  I figure she has at least 500K left in her.

SEVERE Weather

We've had 2 or 3 thunderstorms every day this week but tonight... oh my.... Wind that bent trees and rocked our rig, rain that we couldn't see through, and dime size hail. Even the weather is big in Texas.  (We are at that X by Point, TX)

A Day of Sites

Took today to travel around the area and see what could be seen..

Along the way to the William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace National Historic Site in Hope, AR.

On the way home, we found a wonderful Winery / Bistro.  A Wine tasting and a couple bottles of very nice Texas wine.

A most unusual tractor trailer...

A short travel day to a nearby RV Park (Lake Towakoni) to "freshen" the various water tanks on the trailer.  We will be on the shores of Lake Tawakoni for a week.

Post-Race at Texas

A great race with tight racing throughput the pack. The lead three battled hard and changed every dozen laps. Great fireworks afterwards. Then it was a little after race food, a "bourbon tasting," and Shawshank. Definitely the beginning if a new tradition.

Race Prep

Saturday before the race with new friends. .. Brisket, Shiner Bock, and Roadhouse. It doesn't get much better.

Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway

We're hanging out in the stands this afternoon. 70's, fluffy clouds, light breeze. NASCAR Cup qualifying in a bit then the Xfinity race. We've been invited to a "tasting" after that.  The big race is tomorrow.

Texas Motor Speedway is 1.5 miles long, 58+ feet wide, seats 181000, parks 70000 cars, and camps 8700 RVs. The camping area is mowed and manicured lawn with blacktop  and gravel roads. We got here Tuesday and are glad the thunder storms are over.

The view from our seats.

Travel: Whitney, TX to Texas Motor Speedway (100 mi)

Stayed at Lake Whiney for a couple days to prep all of the tanks (fill the fresh, dump the waste) and do some grocery shopping; we prefer to not leave the speedway once parked unless it is really necessary.  Very poor signal (cell and WiFi) at Lake Whitney so we will catch up and back-post from our next RV park.

Stopped along the way to have the Stereo / DVD Player checked for a possible warrantee replacement; it has been acting up lately.

Looking forward to some relaxation and partying at the track.  The tailgate party starts Thursday when folks from UpState NY arrive; the race is Saturday night.  Oh yea....
